How We Began

Singlapa began not in a boardroom, but over a steaming bowl of Japanese curry and a shared love for watercolour. Founded by Roong and Lovey, two stay at home mothers in Singapore, the brand was born from a desire to redefine the "corporate path."

Twelve years ago, Roong left architecture to raise her daughter, becoming a self-taught watercolourist to fulfill her creative dreams.

While Lovey discovered her passion for painting during the pandemic, leaving her longstanding corporate career behind to pursue watercolour art.

What started as a "passion project" between two friends has blossomed into a creative lifestyle brand that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Singapore and the rich tapestry of Southeast Asia.

Art You Can Use

Every Singlapa product starts as an original watercolor painting — no digital shortcuts, just brushstrokes full of character. We transform art into practical beauty, from table runners to silk scarves.

Cultural Prints with Personality

Whether it’s a Mahjong set dancing across a tote or a phoenix gliding over silk, our prints infuse everyday objects with playful heritage — mixing nostalgia with fresh flair.

Premium, Sustainable Craft

Made in small batches from OEKO-TEX-certified fabrics and Thai silk satin, our pieces are crafted for longevity. Thoughtful details, vibrant colors, and strong finishes ensure you’ll keep reaching for them season after season. With ethical sourcing, low-impact transport, and a commitment to the planet, we believe beauty should never come at its expense.

A Story That Started with Paint and Paper

Founded by two artist-moms in Singapore, Singlapa began as weekend watercolor sessions and grew into a lifestyle brand that honors culture, creativity, and community.

Rooted in Heritage, Reimagined for Today

Inspired by the richness of Asian heritage, we bring cultural motifs into the modern home. Our designs tell stories — of Peranakan tiles, tropical florals, and street-corner charm — with a wink of modern style.

Our Mission

"To elevate everyday living through art — creating timeless pieces inspired by Asian culture and heritage, designed to be lived with across the world."

We believe that art should be accessible to everyone, and that it can add a touch of joy and inspiration to even the most mundane moments of our lives.

Mastering the Magic of Watercolour

We have a unique appreciation for the way this medium can capture the delicate nuances of color and light. We have spent countless hours perfecting our techniques, learning how to create vivid, dynamic paintings that truly come alive on the page.

Art For All

But we don't want to keep our knowledge and passion to ourselves. We believe that anyone can learn to create beautiful watercolour art, regardless of their previous experience or skill level. That's why we offer watercolour classes and workshops, designed to teach you the techniques and methods we use to bring our paintings to life.

Bringing Art Back into Everyday Life

But our love of watercolour doesn't stop there. We also use our art to create beautiful homeware products, from tote bags to tea towels. By printing our paintings onto textiles, we're able to share the beauty of watercolour with even more people, bringing a touch of artistry to their homes and daily routines.

Community and Passion

At Singlapa, we are more than just a business - we're a community of art lovers. We're two stay-at-home mothers who started this company out of a shared love of watercolour and a desire to share that love with others. We believe that art has the power to inspire, uplift, and transform our lives, and we're dedicated to making that vision a reality, one painting and one product at a time.
